Sporterized Mauser 98k ?
just picked up a sporterized mauser and I dont know much about it. On top of the receiver it is marked S/147, and 1936. on the left side of the receiver there is a 4 digit serial # 4xxx with what looks like a lower case letter b in cursive. The eagles on the gun have angled wings and no swastika beneath them. Stock looks to be original, but with the fore end cut down and refinished. Blueing looks original and is about 95%, and all serial #'s match. Anyone have any information on this gun, and what it might be worth??? ( I picked it up for $100.00).

Having been "sporterized" it has no collector value. It's value is only as a shooter, thus whatever the market will bring. Likely $100 was a very decent buy. 0 -
Does this SPORTER have Military Sights or Civilian Sights? Have a Drop Forged Bolt? Is the Caliber 8mm...? Set Trigger or Standard Military Trigger?...Serial Number don't mean much as Germans started serial numbers at 0001 and ran to 9999....at which point they started all over again....
