I have a EAA WINDICATER 357, and am wondering if I can fire 38 super through it. Any information will help. 0 -
no. 0 -
Yes. You can shoot 38 auto ammo in a 38 Super weapon, but you cannot shoot 38 Super ammo in a 38 auto weapon. 38 Super ammo is much more powerful, and it would not be safe in the 38 auto weapon. The higher pressure of the Super would probably severely damage a 38 auto weapon. The 38 super weapon is built to handle the higher pressure, therefore it is safe to handle both 38 auto and 38 Super ammo. If you are using a particularly light load of 38 auto ammo in a 38 Super weapon, you might have some short stroking problems with reliability because of the heavier recoil spring. I have been shooting 38 auto ammo in my 38 Super weapon without any problems. Just be sure it is not the other way around. You could seriously hurt yourself. 0 -
arent you going to have case length issues and mag spring tension and main recvoil spring issues to contend with? lighter loads, may not recycle it. 0 -
I have a 38 super slide that i am going to put on a gun and the slide is a colt with an adjustable spring tension. 0 -
Yes. I've been doing it for years with no problems. The gun is a factory Colt .38 super, pre WW II. 0 -
Hello "gunguy30_06"[:)]
1. If you look in "Cartridges Of The World" by Frank C. Barnes, you will find that "dimensionally" the cartridges are the same, so you can fire .38 Auto in a .38 Super, but not the other way around. The .38 Super works at much higher pressures than the .38 Auto.
2. Like "robkelly2242", I have a factory Colt in .38 super, pre-WWII, the only Colt I own, and I also will grab up .38 Auto at a gun-show in a New York heart beat if the price is right.
Best Holiday Regards To You And Yours[:)]

so youre saying a 38 auto has enough power to cycle a 38 super pistol? 0 -
the person that i bought the slide off of gave me a whole bunch of 38 auto and 38 super brass. 0 -
i still say the recoil spring is gonna have to be tweeked or changed. 0
