U.S. M1 Carbine value????
I have a Standard Products U.S. CARBINE CAL. 30 M1 ,ser #2134xxx it has the early flip sight , early push button safety, barrel is an Underwood marked 12/43 with flaming bomb,front sight still has both ears , 2 pin wood hand gaurd , no bayonet mount , no import stamps , 1 - 20 round mag., rifle is in excellent condition , there is no sling or oiler , inside the stock where the sling goes it looks like the letters S-HB , on the right side of the stock there is a stamp that looks like a circle with crossed baseball bats inside the circle , the only real down side is some dumb a** carved RT in the stock ,
any help on place a real life value on this would be appreciated!!
On the one hand I would like to keep it but on the other it most likely will be sold ,, it all depends on what its worth , if the value is up there , then its going to be gone ,if its on the low side them i will just keep it as a shooter

Im going to take a stab at it, [ feel free to correct me if i'm wrong guys ]. on auction if started at 1 dollar nr i'd guess it would close out between 600.00 to 750.00. I know that leaves a 150.00 gap but it all depends if the right person sees it. price range i stated is assuming the wood and metal is in good condition.

Another factor that would affect the value is what markings on the interior parts. If they are all, or even large number of them, stamped for Standard Products then this could raise the value considerably. 0 -
can you tell me what and where to look for these stamps ? 0 -
If your not going to sell it I reccommend you buy the book War Baby or another referrence book, I just bought a Rock-Ola and am buying parts on ebay to make it all correct. You'll have to take it down like I did all the way apart and get a loupe to check all the markings to determine if all the parts are correct.
Your in for some fun though if you plan on keeping it, I would not sell if I didn't have too.

[8D] If is an import that will affect the value (-) especially if it is blue sky as I have one and it is deep into the barrel. (IMHO). Good luck with it.

Also buy the book "U.S. M1 Carbines Wartime Production" by Graig Riesch. It shows all the markings and where they can be found. I think I bought this book on www.Amazon.com and it has been EXTREMELY usefull.

Stamped markings alone are not enough to identify many parts; shapes are also critical. I suggest you buy US M1 Carbines Wartime Production by Craig Riesch, an inexpensive book.
I agree with Mauser Central's estimate, but, if you do a really good job of describing AND photographing it, you may get a lot more. For example, you need to describe the bore condition & muzzle wear measurement. And, terms like "nice" don't mean squat to collectors; you need to give the percent of finish remaining, such as "metal has 95% of original finish". Same goes for wood condition.
