4 barrel 4 shot pistol

Hi, I am looking for a pistol. I am not sure exactly what it's called. It has 4 barrels two on top side by side and two on bottom side by side. It looks square like a regular gun until you see the barrel end of it. It pops open in the middle and you put the shells in right there and it also ejects the shells after you shoot them. They do not all shoot at once. You can shoot one or one right after the other. I am looking for a 357 magnum. So I can shoot 357's or 38's. I have tried to search for one on Gunbroker but I do not know what to search under for it. If someone could please help me. I would really appreciate it.     Hello Taylor...

    The style gun you are referring to is called a "Pepperbox", and well over 100 years ago, Sharps (yes the same one that made all those old Buffalo rifles) made several varieties of Pepperboxes. Pepperboxes were also made by many different European gun makers during the same era. To the best of my knowledge, all of the Pepperbox style pistols chambered fairly anemic (at least by todays standards) small caliber rimfire cartridges (though I believe that Sharps made at least one type in .41 rimfire). I am not aware of any current manufacturers making a modern version of a Pepperbox that will fire a potent cartridge like the .357 Magnum.

    the firearm you are looking for was made in the mid-seventies, it was a 357 mag caliber called a C.O.P---concealed off-duty-police, they are no longer made but they may still be available on the market. the only ones i ever saw were made in stainless steel, two barrels over two barrels, with a rotating firing pin !!! they sold in the 70`s for around $300.00----is this the firearms you were hunting????

    Hello C.O.P. is what you are looking for Mossburg BROWNIE was also a pistol made like this but as far as I know 22lr only as well as sharps. There are also many o.u 2 barrel pistols in some LARGE cal. but on a 4 ballel gun the weight and bulk of 4 barrels etc sort of negates the desire for a small compact pistol.Also consider the smaller the grip frame and lighter the pistol the more recoil and noise I know you are not looking for a target gun but with four barrels trying to hit anything except VERY close is VERY hard and recoil will twist the pistol a different direction from each barrel making follow up shot hard to get back on target.

    it is the c.o.p. , it was made up to the late 80's by cop inc.,was designed as a police back up weapon ,since at those times .357 magnum was the duty weapon mostly used ,i have seen a few ,never fired one ,have read good ,and bad

    sorry ,i don't email when replying to a thread ,if you ask a question ,and would like an answer which sometimes takes a big effort ,the least you can do is check back ,out of courtesy ,we are all busy ,and have lives outside of the gunboard

    I have fired the cop pistol and it really bites into the web of your hand. My shop seems to attract those guns.

    Taylor.....Welcome to the forums. I have a COP pistol. I paid $550 for it about a year ago. Why this gun was designed as a back-up or off duty gun is beyond me.

    It is very heavy at 28 oz. as opposed to much lighter guns made during the same period like the S&W Chiefs spec which is lighter and holds 1 more round.

    I bought it for its novelty value and the fact they have been discontinued for a long time. The barrels fire in a clockwise direction as viewed from behind. It is painful to shoot magnums in this gun, but specials are comfortable. The accuracy is so-so but then it was designed for close up work.

    All of the COP pistols come in a nice lined presentation case. They are somewhat collectible, and the prices keep going up. The ones I have seen lately are around $700.
