SKS any good?
I see a lot of SKS's advertised on GB for 125 or so. Even never issued ones, like Yugo's, any good? I think I want one - will it group into 6 inches at 100 yds, are they absolutly reliable? What are the best ones?

First of all, welcome to the forum. I really like my Yugo SKS. I have heard of groups around what you said, but I have gotten 3 rounds into about 2.5 inches before. Maybe it was luck or a fluke but it can do it. Check out gunshows too for the yugos, there are usually a lot of them at the ones where I live. Plus, the ammo is really cheap and they love to eat through that Wolf stuff without a hickup.

Any SKS I've handled I wouldn't want to own. You get what you pay for 0 -
I paid < $100 for my Yugo, & they're certainly worth $125. Where else can you get a reliable high powered semi-auto rifle for that little money?
With the extra hardware on the front, the Yugo is the heaviest of all the SKS's. And, they come packed in grease, & can't be fired until you take them down to the last tiny part & clean it; this can take several days.

well here is my two cents....i own five...one chinese forged and two chinese milled and two russian..all function perfect and i have never had a malfunction...one of the cheapest to shoot...you should be able to shoot with-in four inches at a hundred with no problem..they are a great buy.. tom 0 -
I have a Norinko SKS..... and it is fine rifle. It is cheap to shoot, accurate, and has endless possiblities to configure... and is worth the money at $125... "Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it." Lord Chesterfield0 -

I have several SKS's,including two yugo's,I love them, fairly accurate,well built and easy to maintain but most of all cheap to shoot.I have been running the russian mil-surp lately,700 rds for around $65.00.this is great if you have a bunch of teenage boys at your house evey weekend shooting.I get under 4" groups out them all.

I owned a Chinese model and found it to be very reliable, accurate, and fun to shoot. I believe they are a good value for the money. 0 -
Gun show coming here on Dec.4th...may have to pick up an SKS just because!
Love the cartoon, and it gave me an idea to screw with the liberal weenie type that lives next door..and a vegetarian to boot! LOL

My Russian-made SKS shoots into 1-1/2" @ 100yds all day long. That said, you need to know that this is from a benchrest and using that popular $25 4-power scope that's always offered for those things. Hey man... you can't buy a .22 for that cheap, and it's a blast to shoot! My Mini-14 will always be nearest and dearest though. 0
