Ruger 25/06
I am thinking of selling my Ruger and just bow hunt. Any suggestions on asking price? I bought it in 1986 and made a mistake by not getting a better scope but it has a Bushnell 3x9 on it.

Go to the various auction sites and compare it to comparably aged Rugers. It is probably worth a little more then a 30-06 as there weren't as many 25-06s sold. Gun shows are another good place to research value of used items. Figure that you will get more for it in a private party sale then you will if you put it out on consignment or list it for auction. Listing for auction you usually have to start the auction at a low price to get any interest and then you run the risk of letting it go for a song. If you put in a reserve price you also lose prospective bidders. The scope is of little or no added value in the transaction. My knee jerk opinion is that it is worth about $250 or $300 in the western states and less in the mid and eastern states. 0 -
