Is there a compact Colt?

I am looking for a compact version of the Colt 1911. Is there such a thing? If not, what is a good compact pistol to carry? thanks for your input.

A very nice piece is the KAHR PM-40 but it's price is about $800
Length-5.5"
Wt.-18oz
Max width-1.1"
Capacity-6+1

Or you could go with Springfield's xd-40 or Taurus Millenium both of these would be about half the price of the KAHR. Or you could check out the CZ Rami or Glock 31.
As far as your 1911 question.
I think Para-Ordanance has a compact 1911 model.

Yes, I have one, Say's right on the slide, Colt Compact. I havent shot it much. about 100 rounds of factory and about the same in reloads and NOT a jam.[:D] I think it's a good honest pistol.[8D]

Try a Colt Officers, they come in a lightweight version also.

type in p10 or p12 up in the right hand corner of your screen on gunbroker..good weapons Para-ordnance...Compact and potent,staggered mags as well..I personally like the p12 for carry purposes..

If you are willing to shoot .380 then the Colt Mustang looks/functions very much like the Colt 1911 .45 and it is all steel.

I have a Colt Compact. Great little firearm, one of my favorite .45's

It's a 1911 with a 3" barrel. I've had one for about 6 years and I love it. Your not going to get much velocity from a 45ACP out of that short barrel though.
