ruger triggers
I was reading the $37.50 post and thought yeah he is right all ruger's have a heavy trigger. my question is why do they put such a heavy trigger in everything? is it part of their "Firearms for responsible citizens" thing? I have owned rugers in 22 hor., 223, 257 roberts, 25-06, 220 swift, and 9mm, but the only one that i thought had a good trigger in it was the 223 mini-14. i appreciate your help in my quandry.

hello, all.i have a ruger super blackhawk and a redhawk. both shoot great, very unfussy to load for.BUT..the triggers...both as they came from the factory are absolutely miserable. weight of pull,creep, rough, you name it ,it has it. i realize, unfortunatly, that this is normal. anyone know of a gunsmithing firm that can work sucessfully on the blackhawk to lighten the pull but not adversely affect the guns ability to go boom every time without having to try different primers, etc. i have heard that redhawks are more difficult to work with due to their constuction. thanks for any suggestions you might have.s/w are great guns but ruger q/c has finally made the ruger equally accurate. 0 -
Try your local gunsmith. They can do wonders. The Blackhawk surprises me. Rare for a single action to have a poor trigger pull.

If you are not mechanically challenged you can change the springs in your Redhawk to Wolfe or some other brand sold by Midway. I cut one leg off of the leaf springs on my Super Blackhawk. This can be done with only the grips off. You can take one side of the leaf spring loose and try the trigger pull before you cut off half of that spring and see if it helps. Please do not try "polishing contact points" on these wonderful handguns or let someone else do this that is not qualified, as in very qualified, unless you are ready to spend money to fix your gun. 0
