In double action semi-automatics the hammer will stay cocked into the firing position after you fire the first round, in double action only the hammer/striker has to be cocked each round by each pull of the trigger.

The glock is not a single or true double action in that you can't cock the striker into a firing position, it has no position for you to cock it into, it has to be drawn back by the trigger mechanism and then is released with each pull of the trigger.

Hello single vs double action are different thing in REVOLVERS vs SEMIAUTOS in a revolver a single action you have to cock the hammer with thumb or other ways this turns the CYL to bring another round in alignment to the bore. then you pull trigger to fire . a double action revolver you pull the trigger farther the first part of the pull rotates the cyl and cocks the hammer and the second part of the pull fires the round. On a semiauto a single action has to first have the hammer cocked either buy cocking with your thumb or by working the slide and then pressing the trigger fires the round on a double action the first part of the pull cocks the hammer and the second part fires the round . on most pistols during recoil the slide recocks the hammer so shot 2-the end of mag. the trigger only moves thru the second part of the pull to fire the round. Some people dont like the 2 types of trigger pull between 1st and other rounds so they make a double action only the slide recoiling does nothing to the hammer or striker

I think the Glock is a combo of both single and double because the trigger alone cannot cock the striker, but the trigger does pull the striker back a little bit when it is squeazed. I think people call it a DAO because each trigger pull is the same no matter which round is being fired. Glock calls it Safe-Action. I think it is closer to a single action.
