Power Belt or Sabots for muzzle loader?

I just sighted in my 50 cal. inline Kight (just put scope on) first I used Power Belts. The first shot went right about seven inches I adjusted the scope and then they fell into place (3 inch grouping). I used the remaining bullets and thought I would try a few of the .44 cal w/sabots I had lying around. I only shot three and the closest two were 12 inches apart in a triangular pattern. I used 80 grs of 777 for every shot except one of the Power Belts ( I knew I'd get a flyer).

I guess what I am asking is: Has anyone had any success using the 50 cal sabots for the 44 cal bullet? If so let me know and I will send you the ones I have left.

    I had all kinda problems with saboted 44 rounds. I was shooting the 240 grain hornady xtp's. I switched to a 300 xtp and what a diffrence. I talked to the guys at Thompson Center and they said my T/C/ Black Diamond was designed for the heavier bullet. They are right.

    I went from shooting three shots that may or may not hit a pie plate at 25 yards to three shots in a 2"circle at 50 yards.

    Try a heavier bullet. I shoot 100 grains of pyrodex pellets.

    Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check and see what the heaviest bullet I can get and fire before deer season opens here OH on Monday.

    Assuming you are shooting at 100 yards, a 3 inch group is good for deer hunting.
    But, a Knight is capable of much better accuracy.
    What size Powerbelt are you using? You should use at least the 295 grain.
    You might also want to try the 250 SST, I get 1 1/2 inch groups with it.

    I shoot the 295 grain hollow point Powerbelt in my CVA Optima. 100 grains of 777 (pellets) gets me 2 inch groups at 100yds.

    I am using the 245 aero tip. The "rest" I have been using are the handle bars of my four wheeler, so there is some human error in the soup. Once I get the thing somewhat dialed in, I then practice different "real life" shot possibilities. I was under the impression (Powerbelt website) that the 223 aero tip is adequate so I went up one class in weight. My stands are all set in up the corners of fields and woods so I would be shooting out to about 125 yds in the open (comfortable) and under 50 in the woods w/very little brush.

    I have been looking around to see what the effective range using this combo is but haven't had much luck. (245 aero tip and 80 grains of 777)

    You should improve on the accuracy by going up to the 295.
    With 80 gr of 777 you would have plenty of power to take a deer at 120 yards. The bigger slug also carries more energy downrange than the smaller slug.
