If you are going to be doing a lot of shooting I would not recommend a 7mm. They have a lot of recoil, lots of muzzle blast, and cost lots of money to shoot. For 350 yards and under I would recommend a .22-250. Plenty of power to handle varmints out to your range and beyond. 0 -
I agree...7mags are expencive to shoot.....$1 plus a round....it will however reach out to 350 yds. with no problems...as far as recoil that is a personal thing....I shoot a howa 7mag....does it kick...hell ya [:D],but not that bad....if the gun is a good price and you don't mind 25 bucks for 20 rounds then go for it
If you don't love this country you are free to leave....if you need help getting out I'll show you the way!!!0 -
Ya know, I have a 7mm Rem Mag and love it to pieces - BUT!
If you're thinking of a varmit rifle, the above advice is sound and should be considered. If wanting to stay with a 7mm (.284) caliber, there are several other options with far less recoil and expense of loading (powder savings). The 7x57mm Mauser, 7-08, .280 Rem to name a few. All are good 350+ yd rifles with the right bullet (Nosler Ballistic Tips come to mind) and would make great long range varmit cartridges.
IMHO, anyway! [:D]
