Has this happened.
My friend Denis was hunting small game. He was using a side by side twelve gauge. He fired a shoot and is sounded funny he put another shell in and fired again and the gun blew up in his face. Cut his hand up very bad. Here the wad stuck in the barrel. He relodes his own ammo. He was very lucky

I've seen factory ammo do the same thing, in both shotgun and handgun, due to no powder.
He didn't get any powder into that shell, where he F***ed up is in failing to check the bore for obstructions after hearing a "funny" shot.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
If it didn't sound right stop shooting!!!!

Yeah, I have to admit that your friend was stupid for not checking his weapon before firing it again. But I hope he's okay.

ive heard of it and saw the results. always look through the bore if a shot dosent sound or feel right. ive heard of shotgun barrels blowing out over spider webs in the bore.

Reminds me when my wife called me at work to say she needed a ride to work. She said her car made a "funny" noise before it quit and the smoke started (rod through the block). Nothing funny about either situation!

years ago we where shooting a round of skeet when the guy in front of me had a funny sounding shot , he was using a 870 and he just went ahead and jacked another round in and was going to call for the next bird when I stoped him , you guessed it there was a wad half way down the barrel, don't know if it would have blowed but sure am glad I caught him in time 0 -
sure hope his wounds heal up good a sad day for sure just goes to show how much you have to be paying attention at all times a simple mistake can and will cost you alot i've seen it happen with a pistol but not a shotgun sure hope it never happens to me hope it wasn't to expensive of a gun those doubles sure are expensive or worse yet to lose a family heirloom 0 -
The the worst thing is it was his dads dad gun. It was some thing eagle. Not shure of the brand.

Just a reminder of what can happen when we don't use the ol'noodle. One small lapse in safety/judgement can do a whole lot of damage. Check out this guy who managed to load his muzzleloader with smokeless powder. http://www.huntamerica.com/wwwthreads/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=599214&an=0&page=5#599214
OUCH!!!
