My elderly neighbor has asked me to id a pistol that belonged to her father. It is a S&W with several patent dates runing from 1894 to 1909 marked on the barrel, which is 3.5 inches long. It has black somewhat round grips with the S&W logo in the grips. The barrel is marked Cal. .32 OTC. It also has a military type holster that by the wear marks looks made for the gun. It has a button over flap. Looks like a old police gun to me but any advice would be appreciated. 0 -
does it break down from the top ?
a pic would help narrow it down0 -

No, it swings out. I will try to send a pic if I can figure out how to do it.0 -
Hi, and welcome to the forum.
If you have pictures, but no hosting site for forum posting, use the email icon at the top of this reply to contact me and I'll provide you with my direct email address. You can then send your pix to me as standard email attachments and I will post them here for you.
Also, provide some s/n info. If you are of the "no full number tribe" just omit the last 2 digits by using "X" in the place of the digit. You will find the s/n on the underside of the barrel and the bottom of the grip, among other places ...
Even if your providng pictures give a description of the condition of the finish and of the cylinders and bore, as pictures often times can't clearly show those details.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0 -
Sounds like a 1st Model Hand Ejector......A Photo and some more information will be required for a true analisis....
