burgsmuller k from germany
Sirs;
I looked at a hammer gun that says only "Burgsmuller and Sohn"on the shotgun barrel and "Krelensen"on the other. It is a 16 guage by 9.??? side by side. What is is it and what is it worth in very good shape?
I can email a picture if ness. Thanks Rick

Going to have to go the picture route, I fear. The values on Drilling guns varies so widely that an educated guess with any degree of certainty is out of the question. I am at work so have no access to my books, but if memory serves, Burgsmuller and sons are part of the Ferlach gun guild and would therefore be a specimen that should be appraised in person. The 9.3 x ? could be 9.3x72, 9.3x74, 9.3x62, 9.3x64 blah blah blah. Best bet would be either 9.3x72 or 9.3x74 as they are old cartridges that were designed for BP and have a very long overall length making them much more suitable for single/double barreled guns..i.e., the cartridge is too long to fit through a magazine action. Please include those pics if you can, and the best description (most detailed) you can, including the proof marks and patent dates.
