I believe that what they were referring to was the ability to drop in another barrel and magazine with other ancillary parts and use the same frame and slide. Go to www.eaa.com and check out their descriptions of the Witness line of guns. As for a 9mm Luger round functioning through a 10mm pistol? Not unless they've repealed the laws of physics. Basically, since the bullet diameter on a 9mm is about".355, and the 10mm is around ".400, the entire 9mm cartridge might fit down the barrel of a 10mm.

Thank you, I knew that 9mm wasn't flat out interchangeable.

saw a case on our Range where a guy had several stainless full-size S&W autos out on the bench at the same time, that were chambered in
both 9mm and 10mm. At one point he managed to load 9mm rounds in the 10mm magazine, and inserted said mag into the 10mm pistol, and fired. A hollow sound, smoke issuing from the breech and magwell, and failure of the slide to cycle. I took the pistol from him, since he didn't know what had occurred. Found the 9mm case still held on the extractor, blown out to attempt to fill the 10mm chamber, and the primer pierced and flattened, since the round was not held securely against the breechface when it fired. No damage to the pistol or shooter, other than to his self-confidence.

I've seen a 9mm inadvertently fired from a .40, which I suppose is more or less the same. Hollow sound, wildly inaccurate bullet, split case. Not something I'd want to try myself. Why is it, that people are always asking if they can use the wrong ammo? You see it in these boards a lot, isn't it simpler just to use your gun as intended?

I have used empty 9mm cases as shotcups for making shotshells for a 10mm revolver.
