Westernfield 740/Marlin 336

I have a Westernfield model 740A-ENS. I know this is the same as the Marlin 336. My questions are. What does the ENS mean? Where can I find information on Westernfield serial #'s to determine when this rifle was made? Thanks, Leonard.

  I saw a question posted in 2004 without an answer and I find I need the same question answered. Western Field 30-30 rifle marked model 740 A-EMN. Where is a good source to find out when made? I know it is a Marlin 336 but would like to know the date of manufacture. Thanks Paul
