520 Stevens question
I am looking at buying a 520 stevens shotgun in 12ga. There is one big problem with the operaton of it. To eject a shell after firing you must push the slide action realese button. What is probably wrong with it and how mcuh would it cost for a gunsmith to fix?

is this after live firing or after dry firing? The recoil is needed to "unlock" it, so if it is after dry firing than there is probably no problem, if it is after live firing than there is a problem, no way of knowing exactly what it is without seeing it. I am going off of memory of one I used to have, if I am incorrect, than I apologize. 0 -
Its after live firing. 0 -
I do not think the action of this shotgun needs recoil in order to cycle the slide after firing. It sounds like the action release is not being activated when the hammer falls. Ask the seller to remove the trigger group, drive the pins out, left to right, and take a look on the left side of the group for some piece of linkage that is bent or broken. If the seller refuses to take it apart, make a low-ball offer figuring it will cost $50 to $100 to have a smith fix it. Let us know how this plays out.

AFTER WORKING ON MORE OF THESE THAT I LIKE TO THINK ABOUT, I USUALY WON'T TRY TO FIX ONE UNLESS IT'S (A.) IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND (B) THE PROBLEM IS SOMETHING OBVIOUS AND SIMPLE (LIKE A SMALL BROKEN PART). OTHERWISE YOU WILL BE FIXING FOREVER. 0
