1911 frame and slide
I recently aquired a custom built colt 38 super model 70 slide. The only frame that this slide will fit on and fire that i am aware of is a gold cup. i am looking for an inexpensive frame and was wondering witch brands will fit my slide. I am looking for a slide that fits too tight to the frame and then use an abrasive compound to fit the slide snugly to the frame.

Theres no way to tell without trying it. The slide you have now could have been tightened to fit whatever frame it was on. Suggest you take it to a gun show and try a few frames, if you can find any. Caspian is also pretty cool to deal with, maybe call them and ask if you can send them your slide so they can see what will fit on it.0 -
Several companies make frames with "gunsmith-fit" rails. Essex does (can be found at www.brownells.com), Caspian does, Wilson does, Les Baer does, and I'm sure others do. check them out. 0 -
