Orlite Magazines

I've searched the web to no avail. Does anyone know if Orlite makes plastic magazines for the mini-14?

    Nope...at least none that I've heard of. The Orlite nylon mags are made for the Israeli military. Thermold makes polymer mags for the Mini-14. This is the Canadian mfg. that makes mags for the Canadian AR-15s. I use them all the time in my Ruger.

    I myself have about given up on having to pay as low as $50.00 to as high as $125.00 for Ruger factory high cap mags. As far as that goes the after market, at least the ones that actually work as well as the factory mags, also cost way to much for me. With the so called AWB having expired due to the hard work of the pro-gun people, I hope and expect the price of the good high cap mags to drop a lot.

    But in the meantime I bought 4 Pro-Mag 10 round mags for my mini-14 for a grand total of about $50.00 with shipping from www.sportsmansguide.com.

    I have never fired them as I have only had them for a few weeks, but they look as high a quality as a Ruger mag, in fact they look like they came out of the very same mold/metal shop as my Ruger factory 5 round mags. I did load them up with 10 rounds and cycled the rifle by hand and they performed flawlessly. I have also been told that Pro-Mag is the company that actually makes the Ruger factory mags, but I don't know for sure.

    Good ten round mags are fine for me as long as I know I have a few of the 15-20-30 round Ruger factory mags in the safe just in case I ever want to use them. Besides, it is a whole lot easier to benchrest shoot with a shorter mag.

    I saw someone had made some Mini 14 feed towers for the Beta C mags (100rds). I saw them listed on the GB for sale. The guy had only made 4 and the price for just the towers was at $175. I dont think it would be too hard to make a feed tower on your own. You could just use one of the 10rd mags some welding and a refinish shouldnt cost too much.

    I've never seen or head of Ruger factory 15 round mags. I've seen 10, 20 and 30's, but never a 15.

    Ruger never made any mags themself, they were all contracted out to another company to make them and stamp ruger`s name on them, try Precision mags , you just may see a big resemblence in the two!!! look for the holes on the sides of the mags!!!!

    CDNN Investments have the Mason "Black Warriors" 30rd mags.
    The quality is up to the Ruger factory mag & they work good.
    PMI's have also worked for me.
    Also looked around for the Orilite's, could not find any & its my understanding the company is out of business.

    Posted - 11/28/2004 : 8:02:09 PM Show Profile Reply with Quote trfox,you may have a very rare Ruger Mag?Ruger did make a very small Handfull of 15 RD Mags on request of a Major PD that wanted them for their Officers to use at the bench.The shorter Mag worked well but they werent many made.Ive also heard positive comments on the Pro Mag 10 RD Mag,I was unaware about them makeing Mags for the Mini-30.I will be trying to try a few of those out in my Mini-30.Rumour is Pro Mag has won the Bid to start makeing all of Ruger Mags within the next yr.So if they work well I guess it would be wise to buy a few,because then they will also only offer 5 RD Mags for the Mini's.With the fate of the so called AW Ban in the air Mag Manufactures are reluctant to invest in the exra tools and machinery to manufacture standard capacity Mags.I believe they will slowly start to trickle to the consumer until the long term fate of the ban is known.Thats why I say buy them while there is plenty.Thanks for the heads up on the Pro Mags for the Mini-30.
