I have a Ruger stainless Voquro in 44 mag cal, can not see the sights, (my old eye's) I dont remember what I paid fer it, Am going to a gun show Sat. to sell or trade it, Could you please tell me what to ask fer it??? Only shot about 1 box of ammo, It's in excelent shape.

If you go to the Gunbroker home page, follow the SmartSearch link & check out completed auctions within the last 90 days for similar guns. Look only at what folks actually bid, not the asking price.

if you sell it to a private party you should be able to get around $350 if you try to sell it to a dealer maybe $275-300
I have a Ruger Bisley Vaquero 44mag in stainless that I have taken to several shows trying to sell for $400 and have not been able to do so yet
before you sell it you may want to try some sight black on it , darken that front sight may help0 -
You also may want to look into those fiber optic sights.

I have the same Ruger and same old eyes.I loaded about a hundred mild 44 mags and you will be suprised how good you can shoot it just point and don't take it too serious. 0 -
Aside from all the other great answers maybe you should invest in a pair of Eye Glasses This may help as well....Ya think[:D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][8D][:D].

Say, Other Old Timer, I'm another one with the same gun, same problem. Unfortunately, as I have learned, no two people have exactly the same eyes and see the same picture, but I've addressed the problem for myself and others in several different ways:
1. The main problem for old eyes is that the front sight is so thin. One solution is to make it more visible. For some, filing the back side of the sight blade a little flatter and coating with bright orange paint works well. Works well for many. Acrylic paint from a hobby store is good.
2. To make it a little wider you can find some bright orange plastic and cut out a tiny strip and use a super epoxy to glue it to the back of the blade. I have a little extra of this material I'd be willing to send to you por nada. Requires a little amateur gunsmithing on your part.
3. If you are willing to alter the gun and go totally custom you can have a gunsmith mill off the front sight and silver solder on a ramp and gold bead sight (or white bead, or whatever), and the back of the topstrap can be milled off for an adjustable white outline S&W sight--or even a peep sight.
4. Then, an entirely different approach is the little, circular, peep aperature that glues itself onto your eyeglasses and acts something like a peep sight, focusing your vision onto just the sights alone and making them clearer. Whether or not this will help you depends a lot on exactly what your vision problem is, as does all of this other information.
Just some thoughts. Sometimes when you basically like something, but it doesn't work for you, a modification will make it better.
I paid $250 for mine, but it was used, and some wannabe cowboy had etched it with an acid to make the surface look timeperiod. I buffed most of it out and bought some of those "engraved" pewter grips. Looks pretty nice, and shoots better! Don't give up on something you like without a fight!0 -
