AR-15 recoil spring

I just bought a new wolff spring for my A2 AR, but methinks the spring on my collapsing stock AR15 is feeling weak as well, I read somewhere that you can use a standard length recoil spring on a collapsing stock, but I don't see how that could work.
could I use my old full length spring on my collapsing stock?
Does anyone know if this has been, or can be done?

  Either buffer spring works on mine.
