Would someone tell me why the laoding gate has such a strong spring??? And can they be lighten up, with my old fingers it is hard to load, and it scraches the brass.

  The loading gate is tempered to be its own spring, it will get a little easier with use. If the loading gate is not held securely against its port in the receiver, it will interfere with operation of the carrier.

  thank's Country, I dont shoot it very often, Just figgure every body need's a 30-30.I think I will put a wooden dowel in it to hold it open may weaken it a little, whata you think??

  Doubt it would make much difference. Remember that if the gate gets bent so that it protrudes too far into the receiver then the carrier will not operate and the action will lock up.
