left handed handguns?

I shoot left handed. Have such trouble with safties and slide relieces. I like the nineteen eleven style.

    There was one made that ejected left side called the port sider

    Shooting a 1911 left handed can be a task sometimes ,but nothing that can not be over come ,one get an ambidextrous safety ,second your index finger can accomplish the task of magazine release ,and slide catch ,they even make an ambi mag release, I have seen many lefties master it well

    Randall is the company that made a left-hand version of the 1911. They are long gone but maybe a search here would find one.

    The Randall Portsider is a neat pistol, but would be a bit pricey since it is also very collectible.

    Check out www.brownells.com for parts. You can get ambidextrous safeties and slide release levers for the 1911. The mag catch is more tricky. You might have to learn to use the index finger of your shooting hand.

    I too am a lefty.

    Use your index finger for the magazine release and have an ambi-safety added to your 1911.

    That's all you need.

    Or go Glock.

    Iam obviously a lefty. I have become accustomed to operating the right hand 1911 pistols.

    Use your left index/trigger finger to operate the mag release and the slide release lever. Get an ambi safety for the left thumb and you will be ready to go.

    I have a left hand Randall 1911A1 that I got a few months ago. It is very awkward to operate, since I have become so accustomed to using the right hand model. A Randall would be too expensive an investment to use as a shooter anyway.

    I think the Portsider was pretty much useless. If you get an ambi safety, the 1911 is pretty much built for a lefty. Working the slide release and the mag catch with your left index finger is a lot faster than with the thumb for a righty. Heck, I don't even have to shift my grip at all.

    I do recall Safari Arms carreid a few left handed 1911's. Shotgun News used to advertise them every so often. If you have money, maybeyou can get lucky and find one.

    I am a lefty also. First of all, Portsider was not made by Randall. I have a lefthanded Randall and it can be confusing because I have learned to use my index finger to work the controls on a right handed gun. Have you looked at HK USP's. You can have the controls configured for left handed shooting.

    Correct...the portsider was made by Falcon in the late 80's.
