Before you fix the "problem" shoot it to see if there really is one.

If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!

[8D]All of the Weatherby MK 5 wooden stocks, have a "contact" point at the barrel chanel, about 2/3 inches back from the front. The rest is floating-they may do that with the synthetics. Like Contender says-shoot first then decide!

On your mark-get set- go away!!

most light wieght barrels will group better with some 'up' pressure from the forend (reduces barrel harmonics?). however shooting with a bipod or a tight sling will change this, especialy with a synthetic stock. for a light barrel i usualy free float as a LAST resort.

Percentage wise barrels 'grow' in length not in diameter as they heat up. Consider the pressure point placement, and barrel taper.
That pressure point is there to improve accuracy, and most always does.

Strongly suggest you follow previous suggestions which is the scientific process it, before using a barrel channel file.

Be sure to check action screws which should be around 35-40 inch/lbs.

    Happy Bullet Holes!
