Browning A5

A friend of mine has a 1972 Browning A5 12 gauge with a vented rib, he says it was made in Belgium. It is new in the box has never been shot and assembled only twice. He is the original owner and has kept it in storage disassembled ever since he got it.What would it be worth? Thanks!

    I have a Belgium made A5 light weight made in 1968. If I wanted to get another Belgium barrel for it would it have to be off a light weight gun or will any barrel of that age fit? It is a 12 ga. Also can I put a 20 ga. barrel on it? What is the shortest barrel with poly choke they made? What is the barrel marking on a gun that is factory poly choke? *,**,***,****

    is it just worn off? can you drop the trigger assy and see if its gold above the line of sight?

    AS bobski said, check the trigger out further.
    It was originally gold.
    The gun is 36 years newer than you thought the tag
    indicated.
    It was made in 1967.
    But, the "M" means it is a "Standard" 12.
    Not a Light Weight, which would be much more desirable to
    collect, shoot and for sure "Carry".
    The vent rib barrel is a plus with the IC being a real plus.
    $800 is not a "Bargain" for a Standard model that isn't in
    Real nice condition WITH Gold trigger.
    Your "Used" condition would mean more if you gave % of wear to
    blue and wood (stock and forearm).
    If a guy is needing a Standard to fill a "slot" in his
    collection, $600 would be more in line.
    Don't think it's a bargain, just because the other ones you
    have looked at are "Over Priced".

    Appreciate the info. The trigger does not appear to be worn off.It is totally black and the gun has not been used that much. Never have put percentages on a gun but from a novice i would say it is at least 96 to 98% stock and blueing. Gun also has the flat knob on the stock

    I apologize!
    I must have been having a "Senior Moment".
    AND I should have known better.
    I did just phone a Nationally Renowned Browning A-5
    Authority to "Double Check",
    AND the "M" Standard model
    NEVER did have a GOLD trigger.
    (I went back to "Edit" my reply)
    I should NEVER use the word NEVER, when it comes to a question
    such as this.
    For, as soon as you think something is "Carved In Granite".
    an exception will come to light. Either done at the factor by mistake,
    the only part at hand-at the time, the person assembling wanted to or it
    was done later and thought to be factory.
    So, nothing is amiss with the A-5's trigger.
    AND the flat knob would be correct for that year/serial #.
    And, now with a % to go on and the vent rib **- IC choke,
    $800 is still "A Little" high............
    Sorry for the confusion.
