Beretta Slide Lock?
I just acquired a model 70 in 32 acp. The slide assembly was separated from the frame when I took possession from an old fella that had inherited it. He new less than I do. My question is - when the slide is in position, there is a small lever on the right side that turns a locking pin (1/2 round/flat). The flat side is slide-side up when placing the slide in the correct position in the receiver but should be rotated - I think - to keep the slide from going north or whichever direction I'm facing, when fired. I can't seem to turn it after the slide in on. It racks and cocks fine, but I'm afraid to shoot it until I know that it won't come apart on me. Thoughts? Thanks in advance....Bill

The slide lock should go flat-side up to reassemble the gun. When you put the slide back on, pull it back slightly, about an inch or so and move the lock back to the locked position. (where its round side up).. 0 -
Thanks Hangfire,
That's exactly what I suspected, but it just didn't want to go. I'll give it a little shot of breakfree and try again. Thanks, Bill0
