how much too ship a rifle?
won a 22 rifle on gb.seller sent me an invoice and is trying too charge me $51 too ship it from cal. too mo.what you think?at the most i figure $15.what options do i have with this seller.the ad stated actual shipping charges.thanks don

15 should be about right , go to UPS.com put in your zip and his and see what they say , then use that info when you talk to him ,
if he doesn't want to be reasonable then you either have to pay it or tell him to stick it and get ready for neg. feedback0 -
Also, check out the post office rate at www.usps.gov, which may vary from the UPS or FEDEX rate. There is probably a small surcharge for oversize, but certainly nothing that would total more than $20.

I charge a standard rate of $25.00- Everything is bubble wrapped. I ship Priority mail with U.S.P.O delivery 2-3 days. - Little more money but well worth it! 0 -
My experience is UPS ground is about $10-$15, USPS Priority $25 to $30, but no way $51.

Hello ddhotbot! I ship coast to coast, (CA-NY) usually runs $20-$30, depends on how much insurance I buy. That's 2-3 day Priority Mail, USPS. For $51. that better be next Day Air!! Like others have said go to UPS or USPS web site and see what a 10lb package would cost. Almost sounds as if the seller is trying to make at least another $25.00 off you! Your options: Ask him why so much, he may not understand that he doesn't collect sales tax for out of state transactions. If not satified, you don't have to buy the gun. If he threatens to leave negative feedback, you can do the same!!

He probably took it to a place like "Mail Boxes etc." (or something like that) and had them pack it and ship it. If he did that, it could easily be the price he is asking.
If he packs it himself, and ships USPS, $15-20 would do it.

Didn't you know the shipping costs before you bid??? I never bid on an item if the shipping charge is not CLEARLY stated. $51 is an outright RIPOFF! I would tell him to stick that 22 where the sun don't shine!

I had a guy wanting to charge me $43 to ship from Florida to Indiana. I had a good estimate on the weight of the shotgun, got a UPS quote and sent it to him. He complained a lot but finally agreed to a total amount of $65, which allowed $17 and change for shipping. He refused to use UPS, insisted on sending it priority mail. Ulitmately he paid 73 cents more for shipping than what my figure allowed.
He was figuring on charging me everything that the wrap/ship people quoted him, including $12 just for the box.
The last two long guns I shipped cost me around $14, including insurance.

I pay my local gunsmith FFL holder (I know, I know - but, I'd still rather have FFL to FFL shipping)$30 to box and ship a long gun.
