Deerslayer slug suggestions

I'm either going to buy in the next few days an Ithaca Deerslayer II in 12 or 20 ga.with a rifled 24" barrel. I would like to get the 20. gauge, but they are tough to find here in the NY,NJ,PA area.

Has anybody out there had any luck with a particular make/type of slug? Hopefully a little insight will save some time and wear and tear on my shoulder.

  I have the Ithaca in 12 gauge and really like it. Mine has the recoil pad on it and is easy on the shoulder.
