Henry Sears & Co. shotgun info

I'm having trouble finding any info or value on a double barrel muzzle loading Henry Sears & Co. shotgun. It's marked fine stub twist on the barrel and #3808 is stamped under the barrel.

  Vorisek's "Shotgun Markings" lists Henry Sears & Co. as a gun maker and dealer in Chicago 1872-1892.

  Thanks for the info, seems the gun is quite abit older than I thought.
  Now if I can just find an aprox. value.

  Stub twist indicates it is a damascus barreled gun. Likely not safe to shoot, certainly not with modern smokeless powder and maybe not with black powder. If you ever plan to shoot it, be sure to have it checked by a gunsmith with the qualifications and fiber optics to do the checking right. Most of these old damascus barreled guns, especially with exposed hammars sell today as wall hangers. Unless it has fine wood, engraving or other features or condition to make it collectable, $250 would be tops, and $150 or less probably more realistic. The truth is, that hundreds of thousands of these old shotguns were made at modest cost in field quality for use by average working men and farmers, and plenty of them are still around.
