Skeet and Trap

I have started Skeet shooting for the past few months and tried Trap this weekend. I was looking for a good condtion O/U (12 ga) around $1,000 for Skeet but would like to know if I could get a gun that could have interchangable barrels for both Trap and Skeet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Look for one that has interchangeable chokes. You just unscrew the choke insert, and put the one you want in it. For the most part you can't even see that it has interchangeable chokes. Much cheaper like this, and it is easier to carry extra chokes than several sets of barrels.

    I'm going through this right now. Serious trap shooters (which I'm not)will tell you a trap gun should have a much shorter drop at comb and be set up to shoot about 8" high at 40 yds because you're always shooting at a rising bird. Skeet guns, on the other hand, are set up closer to field (hunting) guns, so the two are quite different animals. On the other hand, if you're just going to shoot trap and skeet for fun and not thinking of doing so competitively, using the same gun and just changing the chokes for both sports is fine.

    or, buy one gun with an adjustable comb with screw in chokes, like a nice browning citori.

    right on bob ski, BROWNING CITORI IS JUST ABOUT THE BEST GUN FOR THE MONEY YOU CAN GET FOR TRAP< OR SKEET> I HAVE SIX OF THEM< AND USE THEM ALL>

    I started with a Browing Citori with a 28" barrel and Invectors and now have a Browning Citori all guage skeet, a Citori skeet with interchangable choke tubes, a Browning Citori trap, and a Browning BT-99 and there are significant difference between shotguns design for trap and skeet.

    Generally, Browing skeet guns have are 26 and 28" barrels and the trap models have Monte Carlo stocks and 30 and 32 inch barrels.

    Of course, if you are talking about a general gun for both casual skeet and trap a Browning Citori w/ 28" barrels and Invectors is hard to beat for durability and service.
