T/C Encore hammer ext.
I had a hammer extension on my Encore rifle and experienced some problems with misfires. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, can anything be done to ease the cocking of the hammer and still have positive firing pin strike?

I called TC about this and they tell me flat out do NOT put a hammer extension on their blackpowder rifles for that reason alone. Liability problem .
God gave us all a gift. Have you found yours yet ?0 -
My Encore doesn't have a muzzleloader barrel on it. It has a centerfire .25-06 26" heavy blued. Do you suppose this makes a difference? 0 -
Some of the extenders out there are heavier than others and that added mass may retard the hammer action.
TC wants nothing to do w/ hammer extensions (I think they were hit w/ a lawsuit over an extender on a Contender years ago).
I have them on Contenders and no problems.
Check w/ Wolfe and see if they have a heavier spring set for Encores (I think they make them) as that should cure an increased mass problem.
If you only have time to do two things so-so, or one thing well ... do the one thing!0
