Ak prices.
I was looking at a ar15 but the cheapist is 735. So is there someplace I can get a ak for around 500.

Go to www.atlanticfirearms.com you can buy an oly arms for around 550. and these are very good guns if you don't mind me say and also they have alot of ak's and various other weapons

well what are you looking at the gun for? If it's just for plinking and reliability, I'd go with the romanian stamped Ak, I got mine for 275 and it's never misfed or jammed.
You can build your own AR15 for around 550, get a stag reciever (90 bucks) and buy a parts kit. You can put them together yourself in under an hour.
It'll be a lower end AR, nothing that turns heads... but you'll have more accuracy than the AK could dream of.0 -

One thing I hate about this forum is people checking Shotgun News dealers pricing and then telling people thats what they can find one for. That gives no consideration to shipping costs or transfer fees. If you find one for $290 or so, expect to pay additional cost of shipping and handling, and whatever the local dealer will charge for the transfer.
Lowest price I saw on one on gunbroker auction recently was $300. Then, you tack on shipping costs. Then, give the dealer doing the transfer a reasonable fee for his services. That dealer may have $300 in one sitting in his rack that has sat there for 6 months, and may figure his time or invested money is worth at least $100.
So if you find a dealer who has one in his rack for $400, and you tell him you will give him $10 to do a transfer on one you found for $300, you can expect him to laugh you out of the shop, with good reason.
Many of us, I am sure, have dealers that will do transfers for little or nothing. I have an old friend who is a dealer, and has done transfers on $2000 rifles for zero commission, because we are very old friends and I have done similar favors for him. With most dealers, if you buy a rifle and want him to do the transfer, expect to pay around a 10% of rifle cost transfer fee. Maybe you will find one to do the transfer for a flat $20. That will depend on your relationship with the dealer.

He asked where he can find one, I quoted gunbroker range. Shipping/transfer fees ain't my concern. We all know we have to deal with that. I've never even looked at Shotgun News.
Frankly, anything I buy on here, even after transfer fees and shipping, is still less than buying it at my local shop.

We are also coming up on the gun show season. Wouldn't hurt to look around if one is somewhere in your area as that seems to be one of the better places to find this type of rifle. You might even find a nice hardly used or new ar type with lots of closet time, espec. since the ban is off and likely the escalating prices are subdued, at least for a while. I bought a Bushmaster Varmint for $850 unfired (or if it was, no more than 20 rounds) at a small, local show. It's also where the most dealers in AK types are at and sometimes the most competetive if it has been a slow weekend. 0 -

Big Andy - Lots of good advice there. If there are gun shows in your area check them out. I saw a basic Romanian (I guess stamped receiver) blonde wood stocked, two or three mags, sling, canvas bag, cleaning kit - the whole lot - sell for $350 in the line to go into a gunshow yesterday - private sale. If it hadn't happened I was going to offer the guy $300. $300 to $350 is what I'm seeing here in south Louisiana.

Wholesale price on the Wasr's is around $300 for dealers. Guys so anywhere from $325.00 and up you should see them for.
