Try the Browning HiPowers that are made in Argentina under license...good, reliable, reasonably priced, and will take hicap mags.......also try the Walther P38/P1...cheap, shoots good and reliable..........I have both for plinking and both are trouble free.

For Shooter 500: Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. Do you know who imports the Argentine clones? Are these new or surplus? I know SOG has the Walther's from time to time so I am going to take your advice and check them out. I appreciate the advice as it has saved me more than a few times from buying something I wouldn't have been happy with.

I've heard nothing but rave reveiws of the FEG hi-power clones. I have a couple of friends from the gun shop who have them & love them.

I think you would have a nice gun if you bought one.

Unlike drobs, I have heard very little good about the FEG hi-power clones. I do not care for the two piece silver soldered barrel or hit or miss quality as long as it 'looks' good. As with most of KBIs (the importer) guns the mind set seems to be "If it looks good and is cheap the American public will buy it even if the quality and reliability is hit or miss."

My son has one and he just loves it! He carries it as his conceal carry piece. He had some extraction problems with it when he first got it and after he got a stronger extractor spring and cleaned it up behind the extractor it works perfect for him now! If you do decide to get it besure it's a PJK-9HP. The P9M I heard has a different barrel lockup and the slide and barrel won't interchange with a Browning. Also check out this site. These guys will be able to help you out too! www.fnhipower.com Hope this helps!

Stickthis, Thanks for the link I was wondering who was making that Charles Daley Hi Power.

"Charles Daly/KBI has replaced it's HP offering, the Hungarian FEG clone, for a new made in the United States HP manufactured by Dan Wesson, in Massachusetts. Reviews of the pistol should appear soon in the gun magazines."

  • But If Not
I bought one a few years ago and loved it. Then I sold it for a lot more than I paid. I have always missed that pistol as it was one of my favorites. I bought another FEG just like my old one last week. Now I'm happy again.

The new issue of Shotgun News has an article about the FN copy of the high power, nothing but good reviews, just a little more than the FEG but may be well worth it
