Browning or Beretta

What is the boards opinion on the better choice between a Browning Hi Power or the Beretta model currently being used by our military.

This is not my area and I need yourt help.

    My screen name not withstanding. I'd still go with the hi-pwr. I own several of 'em from nazi to 1973..Don't care much for the newer Practical models.. I also own a Beretta Centurian, barrel a 1/4" or so shorter than M9. I Like the Beretta, double/single action, decocker etc.. A bit more weight and overall larger than the Browning.. Some will freak out when they see the Browning in it's holster in condition one (Hammer cocked, saftey on). Either will do a good job for you.. That said, my carry gun of late is a Glock 19.. I was one of those "Glock Haters" till my son brought one home.. The more I was around it and shot it, the more I liked it.. Don't you just love the "sweet agony" that goes with a new firearm purchase? My best advice is try to shoot as many different pistols as you can before deciding.. Once bought, shoot the hell out of it prior to customising it. You might decide you really don't need all those "must have" doo-dads you read so much about.. Jim

    When i was younger i saw my first highpower and fell in love. I have shot several different handguns in my 26 yrs around firearms and have shot the berettas, i always go back to the browning, nothing against any of the others , it is just what i like the most. The best thing you can do is find someone or a range that has both for rent and try them out to see whats best for you.

    beretta. hi powers have horrible triggers. i have yet to find one that isnt 14lbs trigger pull tested.

    The Beretta is a good choice. The Browning is a great choice. I have owned a Browning Hi Power for several years now and I can tell you that they are as accurate and as reliable as they come. I just don't see you getting screwed with either choice, so if it feels better in your hand and pointability is good, thats the one you pick.
