Colt Detective Special - Early Model

[?] Just picked up an early-model Colt Detective Special. Grips have
silver-colored colored Colt emblems near the top on both sides;
extactor rod is NOT shrouded, and front sight blade is a ramp on
the rear and rounded on the front. Serial number is A23XXX and
condition is excellent. Questions, if anybody has the right
reference books:

1. Year of manufacture?
2. Book Value?

    You know you are old when 1969 does not seem at all early! I have socks older than that. The Detective Special came out in 1927, and that is early to me, as it is to most collectors of any age. A 1969 DS has all the late cost-cutting features, such as the short grip frame.
