Need Info About Mannlicher 1905 Pistol
Hi all, I have a Mannlicher 1905 pistol but do not know anything about it. I found it in Granny's attic and want to keep it but just need some info or history on it. This gun is in 90% condition and has a blue finish. I don't know what caliber it is either. or what the mag. will hold. All the #'s match inside and out. The gun appears to not have been used much and is tight as can be. Does anyone know it's value and above info? Any help is appreciated.

Hello I have infomation on a model 1901 MANNLICHER but not on a model 1905 the 1905 production of the model 1901 started at about serial #3300 Can you post pictures. Model 1901 should be 7.63 X 21MM 0 -

"... the normal BBL length was 5.5 inches, but guns were made with short BBL`s and short grips. the "pre-production guns" made in 1900-1901, perhaps totaling 300, bore "PATENT MANNLICHER" on the left front side slide arm. the marking "WAFFENFABRIK" over "STEYR" appeared on the lock cover plate on the left side of the frame for the remainder of 1901, but the mark changed in 1902 to become "SYSTEM / MANNLICHER" on the right side of the frame and "Md. 1902 / WAFFENFABRIK / STEYR" in 3 lines on the left. the year designation was altered annualy until 1905. the "M1905" was aquired in small numbers by ARGENTINA. these guns have the ARGENTINE ARMS in an oval cartouche on the right side of the frame above the grip, and all the markings in 5 lines on the left. the perfected version of the elegant MANNLICHER blowbacks was the finalized design produced as the M1905. "
about $500.00 in NRA VERY GOOD condition with all markings and the crest intact...

The majority of these pistols were sent to South American nations who seemed to have a peculiar fascination with this type of action/system, and they stuck with it far longer than the European inventing nations did. Many of the old Mannlichers were beautifully made and even shot out versions will still function. Very few screws...just alot of finely machined, interlocking parts that made for a beautiful sidearm. Nice catch you got there...should be worth at least the suggested $500, and perhaps more if the condition is really that high and the parts are all there, matching and unaltered. These are getting hard to come by these days, especially in the higher condition ranges.
