Norinco 86S AK Bullpup
Just checking to see if anyone has a current fair market value for a New In Box Norinco 86S Bullpup in 7.62X39? The one in question has been in my possession since 1991-1992 It has remained in its original factory box all this time. It is complete with the sling, 2-20rd mags, oil bottle, manual, bayonet, as well as the gun all still individually wrapped in the box.
I have seen a used one listed here on GB for $2499. Mine is still new in the wrap with all the goodies. The one listed on GB hasn't sold at the $2499-2500 that was being asked. Then again that one is slightly used. I was hoping someone had some actual current "hands-on" knowledge of what this might be worth. Just for reference, the serial number is below #25, so there weren't too many before this one.
I have a gentleman that wants to buy it, but I'm not sure what a fair price would be. He has offered an amount in the upper teens, but I really haven't seen enough of these sell anytime in the last 10 years to really get a feel of what is fair. Even though the AWB is over, it doesn't really change things, there still won't be any more of these coming into the country and they haven't come into this country in over 15 years. They only came into the US for a very short time in late 1988, early 1989 and there were only a very small number of them ever imported.
The ones I have seen sold over the past several years were usually at least slightly to very used, some with their boxes and accessories, some without. And I've never seen one with such a low serial number. Its not like I tried to sell it, the gentleman mentioned that he was interested in one and asked if I ever see them. I mentioned that there was one in the warehouse that had not seen the light of day in almost a decade and has never been out of the plastic. His eyes lit up and wanted to know a price. I really had not thought about anything like that for a very long time. Its not like I planned to sell it. It took 20 minutes just to get to it in the warehouse, it was buried so deep for so long.
I have another one that I have shot, so this one has just sat in the box, still all wrapped up for all this time.
I wouldn't mind selling this new one, but its not likely that I'll ever get another one still NIB with this low of a serial number anytime soon. I sold a few of these back in the day, back in the 1980's, but that was a long time ago and a lot has changed since then. They are a really neat design, but I'm just not sure what one in this condition is really worth. Any sound input would be appreciated. Thanks.

While I am sure someone-somewhere might pay 2400, that is about double the retail fair market value for one of these. They fall into the "niche" column and are not as collectable as other models. The last sale we viewed was the sale of the same model and it`s serial number was under 100, it sold for less that half of that one listed and was NIB with all accessories.

Thanks for the insight. I wasn't thinking they were worth the $2500 that has been getting asked here on GB, but I really wasn't sure where they are falling in at right now. I suspect they really are subjective. If someone really wants it, it worth one price. What the general market is regularly bringing, is something else.
The Blue Book shows the Norinco 86S at 100% in the teens. Then again the Blue Book shows the Enfield No.4 MK1 imported by Interarms to be worth $75 in 100%, 98%=$60, 95%=$50, 90%=$40, and all lower grades to be worth $35. I'd like to find some at those prices (in those conditions). I'd back up a truck, start loading and hand over the cash, then drive away with a big old smile on my face. So the Blue Book isn't always right (or even close sometimes). That is why I was hoping to get a current "real market" value.

I went ahead and sold it. I guess it needed a new home. 0
