Butch Bore shine
This is an excellent bore cleaner but I'm puzzled by what happens after cleaning the bore, when I apply the butch oil I always get a brownish impregnated cloth after passing it through the bore.
Any ideas of what this is?. is it some residual cooper or just residual bore shine?

residual cooper will come out blueish green so it's either solvent or carbon still in the barrel.

This happens only after cleanning the bore very well wit the solvent? 0 -
Take a clean patch and put a little Butch's Bore Shine on it...unless the old rememberer is failing me, you will note there is a slight brownish tinge to the solvent and that would be where you are seeing the discoloration coming from. For comparison, or if you don't see what I'm talking about, lay the patch on a sheet of notebook paper, and I think it will jump right out at you! Among many others I have used lots of Butch's Bore Shine over the years and found it to be amongst the top 10% in quality available. A very slight amount should be expected to remain in the barrel after a good cleaning...otherwise it's supposed lubricating properties would not work as well as they OR I say they do!
