EABCO Ruger 10/22 to .17 conversion-worth it?

Mighty purty stock but anybody try one yet? How was the accuracy?

Or would I be better off just buying a ready-made .17 calibre rifle?

(I highly doubt EABCO would sell any junk but...)

  EABCO don't sell junk, but what they do sell is pretty much at the upper end of the market.
  
  Converting your 10/22 can give you the best of both worlds because you can switch back and forth.
  
  As I recall Midway has conversions ... compare them to EABCO, and you may want to check out some other places as well, like Brownells, or do a couple Web searches for conversions.

  My opinion on this is go ahead and try it, especially if you already own the Ruger 10/22. If you don't own one you would probably be better off financially to buy a new .17HM2 in the Ruger 10/22 type rifle. Ruger just came out with these and I am not sure of the price but think they go for about $350.00. I looked on their website two weeks ago and they were not listed then but I have seen them advertised.
  
  Last year I wanted to convert my 10/22 magnum rifle to .17HMR and got tired of waiting for Ruger come out with a model so I made my own. I still don't think they have made a .17HMR in the 10/22 type rifle. Since I already owned a 10/22 Mag I bought a match target barrel from Jarvis and installed it on my receiver. That was followed by a drop in trigger job, extra power extractor and spring, bolt buffer, and 3x9x42 scope. This rifle is really accurate.
  
  
  
  
  
  The Jarvis barrel is a factory contour barrel meaning a new stock did not have to be purchased for an oversized target barrel, thus the original stock could be used saving more money.
  
  EABCO's price is fairly reasonable if you own a 10/22 - $169.00 for the barrel and bolt. The Volquartsen bolt sold by Midway is $200.00 alone and the barrel another $230.00 to start.
