Welcome to the forum Lee! Well first off I have to ask you how you measured the barrels? Winchester only made 25,(in 16/20ga)26,28,30,32 inch in 12ga. barrels, unless it was a riot variation with a 20 1/2 inch barrel. I'll assume you mean 26 and 28 in. barrels and it's a 12 ga. Second all Md 12's are "take down" that's a carry over term from the old 97.

Last week a mid 1920's Md 12, 12 ga. in about 99% condition, (both metal and wood)plain barrels, sold for $1500 here at GB. but it also came with an extra butt stock, and the old leather carring case made for 2 barrels, those are worth some money too!

A good 2 barrel set like yours at auction hear, might go for as little as $600, or as high as $1000. Without seeing it, I can't say it's worth exactly $xxx. I have a 2 barrel set from 1932, 12 ga. with solid ribs, Imp/Cyl and Mod. and "Standard Trap" stock and forearms on it and I was offered $2200. for it. 2 barrel sets are rare and even rarer in that vintage. It's basically a sellers market. Now if yours is a 16 or 20 ga. it will be worth about a grand minimum. Just depends on how bad someone wants it. If you need more info just click on only winchesters to the left and email me. Regards Dave

    Hi Dave,
Mine is a plain 12 ga. Nothing fancy, no rib, just a hunting gun. You are correct, I just measured the short barrel. Running the ruler down the barrel, it is about 25 3/4".
I just wanted a ballpark figure. So thank you very much.

Hello Lee! That 25 & 3/4inches, by the time you add the barrel chamber ring. (.200) you get 25.950, well within the tolerance Winchester made barrels. Md 12s with a Cyl bore barrels are rare and since you also have a matching Modified barrel assy. I think you would be surprised if you put it up for auction. I still feel it would go for $600-$1000 without a problem! Enjoy it!! Regards Dave

    Thanks Folks,
I may think about selling it. I have had it for years and never really used it.
