Browning A5 Magnum

I have an old Belgium made Browning A5 magnum. I know that the Belgium made Brownings stopped in about 75 and the steel shot compatable ones where made in the last years in Japan. It is getting increasingly harder to fins the 3 inch magnum shells for it in lead. Is there anything else that is ok to shoot in this gun such as bismuth. I am down to having to order the shells and it is getting annoying.

    I have bought a browning a5 magnum with 32 in barrels and is a belgian gun from the early '60s. The first question is what is the shortest barrel that isn't a slug barrel offered for the magnum reciever and will a jap barrel fit on it. I only paid $300 for the gun so it is no prize but shoots. I am looking at cutting and tubing the barrel but want to know would rather buy one instead.

    I'm surprised you are having any trouble finding 3" lead shot loads. I buy these all the time at Walmart for turkey hunting. Check especially during the spring gobbler season. I have an A-5 Magnum, too. (Japan) It does great for turkeys.

    Well I hunt Pheasant and I can get Turkey loads but they are far more expensive and only come in 10rd boxes. I had a bunch of Federal Classic Magnums that ran 13 bucks for a box of 25 a year ago. Turkey loads are far too expensive ,and the one time I used them is massacred the roosters. Too much powder or too big of shot usually. I can get Bismuth in 25rd Boxes here in 3 ich, is it safe to shoot bismuth and a non steel ok barrel?

    I recently purchased a Browning A5 and got a good deal on it.. It was made in Belgium, has the serial # of 28368 with 8M over it. I was hoping someone could help me date it and give me some ballpark values on it.

    Your A5 was made in 1958. Without knowing what gauge it is and all the specifc details, there is no possible way to say what it might be worth.
