Anyone know were i could get a good deal on a fire proof gun safe? I don't want to spend more than $500. Thanks 0 -
Does your safe have a dehumidifier? If not, some dessicant packs might be a good investment. I store my blue guns lightly oiled. Can't hurt, right? 0 -
Or you can get those gun socks with silicon in them. 0 -

Hi bigwillie,
Make sure to get a dehumidifier rod. This will remove moisture from air in your safe. I have stored my guns for over a year like this with excellent results, that is no rust.
The rods can be obtained from:

Thanks to those who reply with such helpfull answers. This is without doubt the best info board going on with this internet.Nowhere are there as many people who are so helpfull and so well informed. One question tho, I read where on of the members used wd40 on his revolver why is this a bad thing? Thanks again to you all. 0 -
I use two products for long term storage (not including my safe).
Rig universal grease - http://www.silencio.com/htfiles/chemicals.html
Blue Wonder Armadillo - http://www.bluewonder.us/BlueWonderArmadillo.html
Armadillo is great for all the easy surface areas. Rig grease is good for the hard to get at spots.
The dehumidifier rod is essential. With this combination, you can't go wrong.0
