Winchester Model 70 Shadow Question ??
I recently went to the gun shop in my town and found a Winchester Model 70 Shadow for $400.00 chambered in 270 WSM. It is in pretty good shape. Is the price to high? Also does any body have any opinions about the Model 70 or Winchester rifle in general accuracy and dependablity. Thanks.

I just bought a Model 70 Shadow in .30-06, with a factory installed Simmons 3X9 Scope, for $398.00, new in the box, at Wally-World.
A local dealer had the same rifle, new in the box, without a scope, for $419.00.
If the one you're looking at is used, I'd pass on it and look for a new one at a better price.

$400.00 is kind of high,$300.00 sounds alright. 0 -
I bought mine at wal-mart for $400 with the scope too. As far as accuracy goes, I've only fired it at targets up to about 125 yards and it keeps them under 1.5" (that's off a sandbag, not in a shooting vice). The only problem I had was the scope base was not tight on the receiver. A little threadlocker and all was fine. Nice gun and not very heavy. Good luck. 0 -
$400.00 is a bit steep, but is a excellent caliber to shoot.
If there was ever a only one gun deal the 270WSM is it..
Try to pull the price down into the 3's if you can.
( WalMart has nice prices but in a jam they don't have a clue about how to help out if you have a problem the night before deer season.)
Winchester rifles are some of the best made.
