Anyone from Chicago area?
My summer hobby is motorcycles. My winter hobby used to be shooting but a range that was close to me closed down a couple of years ago. The closest range to me now is at least 30 minutes away so I haven't really been out shooting in a long time.
I'm getting out my reloader and want to get back into it like I was before.
Anybody out here from Chicago? I'm in Bloomingdale and would like to get together with others to shoot one of these days.

Hi JimmyZ, I know that a few times in the past, several guys got together in Ottawa IL at a place called "Buffalo Rock" That's been a few years but it's an easy 60 minute drive on I-80 which might be a little south of you. I'm 100 miles west of Chicago and have my own range. Unfortunately I have 4, $300,000 + homes within a half a mile now so I have limited my shooting. Developement sucks for shooting. There is a nice indoor range in Rockford which I think is at the Madison Gun Shop. That's just off I-90 and I-20 in Rockford. Sorry, that's not much help. 0 -

And welcome aboard! There is Maxon in DesPlaines, Gun World in Bensenville, The aforementioned Buffalo Rock, which should be openning again soon (I think...EPA cleanup or some such crap!). The range you were refering to, was that Fox Valley Range? If you think your sad, I lived within a mile of that one and REALLY hated to see it go. There's GAT Guns in Dundee (also very close to me)which has a full indoor range. There's a range in Plainfield...Midwest Sports I think it is, and BELL ,south of the airport (O'Hare)in, I believe, Franklin Park.
I no longer shoot in Illinois much, and look north of the border for my recreational shooting pleasure. There is the Delavan Sportsmans club in, oddly enough, Delavan, Bristol to the East of that in, well, Bristol, and in between lies McMiller near Eagle Wisconsin. I work there on the weekends for fun and a little discount which has worked out pretty well indeed. THe last 3 mentioned are full sevice rifle. pistol, shotgun ranges and of the first paragraph, only Buffalo Rock is full service. There are options, but they are getting fairly limited of late.
