Glock .40 cal owners...
Just purchased my first Glock pistol (a model 22), as well as my first .40 S&W pistol. It hasnt arrived yet. I want to buy some ammo ahead of time and i would like your opinions on which .40 cal loads (personal defense loads) are most accurate in your personal guns. I figure ill then try each and select the one that shoots the best in my gun.
Also, what do you all buy for cheap practice ammo? Is the wolf .40 cal any good? Thanks!!

for self defense purposes i like any name brand hollow point round. because the shooting distance is fairly close, as a rule, i'm simply concerned that the round will fire dependably. imo. 0 -
i would recommend buying several boxes of each load you are considering. as far as practice, i load my own so i cant help you there. i would buy some white box winchester or that yellow box rem. stuff before i bought wolf. 0 -
If you're talking about accuracy, it's not the ammo but the shooter. [:)]

I've got an XD-40, kind of a Glock on the cheap, and that cheap Wolf stuff works great in it. Of all hollow points Fed Hydrashok is the best. 0 -

I know a lot of guys that train with Wolf because of the price. Good practice ammo and gives you a chance to practice your malfunction drills also. [:D] It is not the best but it will punch paper fine.
Defensive ammo: Hydrashocks, Gold Dots, Golden Sabers, SXT, any of those will take care of the job. Remember its not the AMMO that is important here rather than shot placement.0 -

Speer Gold Dots or Triton Quik-shok for personal defense although the Wichester Ranger SXTs do nicely also.

It really does not matter which hollow point you use, its WAY more important to put the hollow point bullet into the right spot. That is up to you, not the pistol.

Any 165 gr JHP's are what I would recommend for defence use. If you shop around you can find some inexpencive practice ammo. Most all the major manufactures have their less expensive ammo for less than $10.00 a box, some as low as $6.95.

BTW, you can use the worst ammo in the world as long as you can shoot straight and hit what you need to in that 1 instance. Practice, practice, practice.
