Need help removing rear sight from Supermatic 107
Hi,
I got a Citation 107, which came with a scope and the rear sight mechanism disassembled. The rear sight mount, however, is still in place. It really gets in the way of cocking the thing and is totally useless.
I've replaced the scope with a DocterSight and would really love to remove the sight mount. Is there any way to do it?

Hello yes you can remove the sight base . It take some work and it is easy to mark up the pistol frame just go slow and if you don't understand get back to me as you look athe sight base from each side you will see one small hole on each side and they do not line up to each other but there is also one large pin one side of this large pin has a hole in it Take a small punch that will go thru this hole and Tap/drive out the other half . in othe words this is a 2 piece pin with one side fitting into the other side . Now that you have the large pin out some times you can get lucky and take a very small easy out and go down the center of the 2 small rool pins and remove them but sone time you just have to cut the sight bridge in half with a dremel tool or hack saw and then lift one side off at a time over the rool pins then with a small pin vice or "YUCK" vice grips remove rool pins . if you are unshure get back to me KARL 0 -
those mounts are factory installed or 'swaged in.' once you remove it, the ZERO is lost and is never guarenteed again. in your case, it doesnt matter. but for resale, you will cut your guns value in 1/2. the mounts can be replaced, but they are replaced with allen screw type lugs. its the dead giveaway. this was the number one complaint with military guns with bridge sights. personally, if i was you, i'd reassemble the gun, sell it, and buy a 106/107 TOURNAMENT with the rear sight ON THE SLIDE. no bridge on that gun. just remove the sight from the dovetail and youd be in business. no mess.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep them on for now, for I have bigger problems...
Just took this thing to the range and it keeps misfeeding and misfiring. I'm using Winchester std velocity, which fires beautifully with the Ruger Mk II, but misfeeds almost every other shot with this one. It seems to not have enough force to push the bullet all the way into the barrel. It came with 4 mags and I tried all of them. The problem doesn't seem to be the mag.0 -
yep , sounds right. try cci green tags and see what happens. if no improvement, you have a magazine problem and a worn firing pin spring.

Is it likely that all four mags have the problem? Or could they somehow be the wrong mags? 0 -
Hello if they are aftermarket mags some were JUNK the 2 lips at the very front should just baerly touch the side of bullet. also some times if you have a broken fireing pin or some one has done a lot of "DRY FIREING" the mouth of chamber will have a burr this can be IRONED out. 0 -
the burr would be identified by a scratch on your ejected brass. on your 4 mags, what color are the followers? 0 -
The followers are all green.
The problem turned out to be the barrels. When I put the original back in, all misfeeding stopped completely.
The strange thing is, they work fine in a 103 Citation. I picked up a 103 yesterday and this one has no problems with either of the barrels that cause the 107 to misfeed.0 -
ta dahhhh. the original bbl was matched to the gun as predicted. sounds like the volq was never fitted or aligned right. and as for the gunpartscorp junk, yep. as predicted, it wasnt qa'ed by high standard. just some mech in the back room in west hurley eye balled it and said..ehh, it should work, put it in the bin![;)] tell me about the 103? i'll tell you what to check to make sure its ok. 0 -
It's a Citation serial number 1289699. I checked that the slide and frame serial numbers match before I bought it, as you suggested. I've got the Volquartsen mounted on it because the bbl it came with is not tapped for a rail. I also removed the rear sight (destroying it in the process[B)]. 0
