Beretta 92F vs 92FS
I've been wanting a Beretta 92, but I do not know the difference between the 92F & the 92FS. Beretta's website is no help, can anyone here tell me?

The FS is the same as the M9, the standard issue American Army pistol. Its an updated version of the F (also called SB), which started manufacture in 1987.

I think the most important difference is that the FS has a slide retention device which was added as a safety feature in response to reports of catastrophic slide failure in early pistols that caused a broken slide to eject into the face of shooters!
Other differences listed in the article above include a chromed bore, a different finish, and slight alterations to the trigger guard and grip profiles.

to add to what bean said, the CURRENT FS is the same as the CURRENT M9. the old or first model M9 prior to the mod is equal to the CURRENT 92F. its known as the single rail slide. i have 5 of the old M9 slides and they dont go on the new FS's. but they will go on the F's.
