1911 where to buy cheap
been searching./....... Looking for a fullsize,or a bit smaller that will take all millspec/aftermarket parts out there, triggers, barrels, ect. I am also in Califorina, so needs to be on "the list"[:o)][:p]
anywhere selling used or surplus under $400?
What about the Liama brands? I bought 1 in 9mm back in 1985-6 but did not own it long, it wasn't a 1911 copy, but don't remember anything bad about it.
I don't think I want the Fire something or another because aftermarket parts are not a 100% fit, read about a crappy loose trigger too.
2nd, who sells longslide kits?[:D]
3rd, use will be a play gun, nothing special[^]

I have found the LLAMA NEW for under $300, & the springfields at $399 online, maybe this is the lowest?
trying to find either a good used one for less, or the best new prices
what are the Colts going for New, lowest price?

Guns are like anything else....You get what you pay for.You would be a lot better off comng up with the extra money and getting a springfield or a base model kimber..I bought a springfield loaded model for around $650...It was an ok gun.....Very reliable with wilson magazines. I sold it and bought a Wilson combat stainless steel protector for $1900 and I promise you that you get what you pay for

If you're looking to build your own, I've heard great things about the Essex frames. I do not know if bare frames are prohibited by the DOJ, though.

wasnt trying to say you had to spend what I did on a 1911 but you will get what you pay for...I guess what I was saying is that llamma is junk and if you want a reliable 1911 you are going to have to shell out some bucks for it....I know your not rich but you would be better off saving up longer and buying a quality gun..experience has taught me that cheap guns are a pain in the azz

Hello stay away from the norinco charles daly and rock island . These have parts that are different size then GI. stay away from auto ordnance . If I was looking try model 1927 these were made under contract from colt for Argentine ARMY 0 -
Regarding the Argentine Modelo 1927.....the first 10,000 were made by Colt (in Hartford) under contract to Argentina. All of the rest were made in Argentina, under Colt license, on Colt supplied machinery set up by Colt technicians.
The quality of the Argentine made Systema Colt, Modelo 1927 was every bit as good as the Hartford made pistols, but they're a bit difficult to find nowadays.
At one time JLD (http://www.cruffler.com/JLD.html) was selling arsenal refurbished 1927s for $270-$300......but they've been out of 'em for quite some time.
If you could find one used for less than $300, it would be a nice bargain.0 -
I had a gunshop several years ago and was constantly seeing Llamas that guys-seduced by the low price-were trying to trade on something-anything!-else. Never found one that wasn't (as a previous poster said) a piece of junk. I always refused to take them in trade and advised to just use them for anchors and consider it a lesson well learned. 0
