Shotgun info please
My father-in-law (85 yrs old) has given me his shotgun that had originally belonged to his father. I suspect it is worth it's weight in firewood but who knows ? It has double damascus barrels and external hammers. It is marked "Montgomery" and "Finest Damascus". I see no other marks. It has what I think is called a splinter forearm. Anyone know anything about this ? [?] I can make and send a digital picture if it would help.

Two possibilities here.
The most likely is an English gunmaker named TC Montgomery who was in business from c.1870-1895. The gun would have British proofs on the watertable and underneath the barrels.
Montgomery also may have had barrels made for him in Belgium, in which case the barrels would exhibit the ELG proofs but the frame would not.
In either event, it is a wallhanger piece.
