270 WSM for Deer hunting?
Hi, I was wondering if any body had any opinion on the 270 WSM cartridge. How is it for accuracy, power, and espically the kick it puts out. I am going to shoot it though a Weatherby Van. rifle. I probably use it to do all my deer hunting at about 300 yards max. Thanks for any suggestions.

Good round for deer hunting.
Accuracy: good, to above avg. depending rifle and shooters ability
Power: plenlty for a well placed shot on deer sized game
Kick: Very little in a Weatherby due to weight of rifle
Mount a good glass on your rifle and go hunting. Good Luck

The .270 WSM is a very nice round for deer hunting. It is basically the same power as a 7mm just in a .270 caliber instead of 7mm so the grain of bullets is smaller. If you were to shoot a 150 grain in each the ballistics would be very close.
My son (age 15) was using his Ruger .270 WSM today and he loves it. Was right on at about 250 yards. The kick was not bad but the blast is surprisingly loud. This is fast becoming a popular cartridge so getting factory ammo is getting easier.
Enjoy the Vanguard, nice rifle for the money.
